Monday Matters: A Good Question

I think/hope the Gospel should be Good News to those outside our church walls as much as it is to those inside the church walls - but those "day to day" things we do in the name of church ministry still make impacts in the lives of God's people.
Don't discredit your work because it doesn't have a huge FLASH BANG WOW impact the moment you do it - God loves doing really really small things in the lives of his people.
But keep pushing for those changes in people's lives too! :-)
Recognize yourself and your church as the Body of Christ in your sphere of influence - and he'll take care of the rest.
  • In other words - keep doing what you're doing.... but always be on the look out for ways you can reach outside your community of faith as well.
  • I think a lot of it comes down to learning how to tell our story better. I'm sure the church is doing more good in people's lives than people actually talk about. I'm sure VBS impacted some of our kids in ways we just haven't discovered. I'm sure too that people are involved in the community in ministry in ways that aren't publicized. But if we don't learn how to talk about those things to one another we'll never know what is going on.

Yes, the learning to tell my/our story better is so needed. Cool thing in our midst: we have folks considering doing the Daily Office together a few times a week. (And I'll probably be one, since I live walking distance from the woman who is "hosting.") Also, as a way to get to know one another, AND to proclaim stuff b/c the Bible says to, we're sharing testimonies. We had our first one yesterday.

I like the question. It sounds so refreshing and another way to look at the church. Look around. See where God is doing some cool stuff. And line up with where God is working and find out what He wants you to do.
