Monday Matters: Rob Bell and Mars Hill

I would only also add that we recognize this was ONE visit, and the worship service most likely does vary somewhat according to the occasion. The lack of visuals was very noticeable--especially after four days at a worship conference--but may not be the norm. We heard a podcast of a sermon from the fall, Blocks and Boards, that had people bringing cement blocks and lumber boards into the worship space throughout the sermon, then ending up by using them to build a table. It sounded great--wish we could have seen it!

I think one of the things I came away with was a sense of relief. None of us gets absolutely everything right in worship, "not even" someone I admire as much as Rob Bell.
