You forgot the "intend to send a card but don't get it out until January" option! I'm always eternally hopeful that my card will at least be postmarked by Christmas.
  • We sent a photo card for the first time this year. We had a pretty good picture of us taken at Grand Teton Nat'l Park so we used that. We gave some thought to a letter - maybe something creative and funny written from the dog - but ultimately decided not to. We couldn't get our creative juices flowing enough to write for the dog. And writing for ourselves, what would we say anyway? Write about the preaching conferences and con-ed events we attended? Talk about the continuing challenges of being a clergy couple? That we made three people mad in our congregations and they left? :) We began to think that we live really boring lives.
  • thanks Jim, I always feel pressured to do something really cool since I'm a graphic artist - so, rebel that I am, I don't put too much time into it hehe

  • we did the photo thing this year. first time we've ever done anything...easy...cheap...fun for people to see and i didn't have to write anything!

I'm technically an 'other' option - we do mostly cards or photo cards but not much for a personal greeting...oops! With the cost of postage and cards (sending 40-60 a year), I would like to move to email\electronic message\cards but fear that some or most will find that impersonal\tacky\etc so we're still on the fence. In past years, I tried to do a letter but couldn't get it to sound right without potentially coming off as everything's so good and happy (even with the just kid's info) so those hit the 'round file'...I'm not a writer I guess.

I knew I couldn't cover every option! I bet you create a great looking e-greeting...
  • technically none of the above - I create my own egreeting that includes a brief family update and email it (but I voted for email christmas letter)
